Alan is an ecologist and sustainability practitioner with over 20 years’ experience in biodiversity assessment, land management, environmental strategy and nature-led performance insight. He founded Natura Insight to help organisations make confident, sustainability-aligned decisions grounded in clarity, integrity and ecological understanding.

Qualifications & professional background
Alan holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and an MSc in Habitat Creation and Management.
He is a Chartered Ecologist (CEnv), Full Member of CIEEM (MCIEEM), Practitioner Member of the Countryside Management Association (PrCMA). He served for nearly a decade as Treasurer and a Director of the Countryside Management Association, the professional body serving the ranger and sustainable land management sector.
Across his career, he has worked with clients in the built environment, land management, community and SME sectors — supporting responsible development, ecological resilience and long-term sustainability planning.
Ethics, purpose & contribution
A strong advocate for responsible practice, Alan integrates ethical governance, nature-positive ambition and transparent methodology into every project.
A portion of all consultancy profit supports Climate, Nature & People protection via the World Land Trust, reflecting his commitment to meaningful, measurable environmental regeneration.
Beyond work
Outside of work, Alan can often be found volunteering with communities, immersing himself in landscapes and spending time with his family and pets — staying connected to the places and relationships that inspire his practice. He has a weakness for good coffee and every dog he meets.
